Pomegranates are intimidating to most people, we don’t know how to eat them or how to deseed them or even how to pick out the right one. If you fall into this category, this post is for you!
First things first, how do you select the right pomegranate? Pick up a few that are roughly the same size and pick the heavier one. It will be the jucier of the two!
When you are ready to eat it, fill a bowl about halfway with water. Cut the pomegranate in half and hold it with the seeds down towards the water. Gently turn the pomegranate inside out and roll your fingers over the seeds until they fall out into the water. Continue doing this until all the seeds are removed from the skin. When you are done, the seeds will have fallen to the bottom and the junk floats to the top. Take a spoon and fish out the items floating on the top of the water.
Strain the seeds out and store in an airtight container in the fridge.
Now, the real question, how do you use them? Sprinkle them on your salad, sprinkle them on melted chocolate and let the chocolate set for a delicious snack, or put them into cookie dough, or use them in stuffing or my personal favorite use, in a cocktail. Stick around, I’ll post the cocktail recipe later this week.
